2019 CTA Convention
17-18 June 2019
Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre
The CTA is pleased to present the program for the 2019 Convention, to be held in conjunction with the International Fiscal Association’s (IFA) Regional Conference.
As the key representative body for major companies in Australia on corporate tax issues, the CTA’s Convention program focusses solely on tax issues affecting large corporates. Our program is developed by the CTA’s secretariat and is a direct reflection of the daily interactions we have with our members and our intimate understanding of the issues impacting their businesses. The program is designed to draw out discussion and debate around these issues, with a focus on practical outcomes and solutions. We have an unprecedented number of CTA members participating in the Convention this year – we thank each of them for their commitment.
This program has been developed in the midst of the 2019 election, an evolving international tax framework and an ongoing Australian Taxation Office focus on ‘justified trust’. Key sessions throughout the Convention will explore how these features are likely to play out in the large corporate space. We are very fortunate to have our keynote speaker MrDavid Bradbury (Head of the Tax Policy and Statistics Division, OECD) join us on Day Two (Tuesday 18 June) for a panel discussion on tax and the digital economy, with a focus on issues for the region and globally. David’s participation at this year’s Convention highlights the CTA’s combined Day Two program with the IFA Regional Conference. We extend a warm welcome to all IFA participants, and encourage CTA members to explore the option of attending Day Two of the IFA Conference (Wednesday 19 June) at the discounted rate of $325 (GST inclusive) for IFA members and $425 (GST inclusive) for non IFA members. Please visit the conference site to find out more or to register.
The 2019 Convention also coincides with the CTA’s 30 year anniversary celebrations. We are delighted to have Commissioner Chris Jordan join us at our Convention dinner on Monday 17 June to share some observations on his interactions with the CTA over his career. Founding CTA Member Michael Griffith (Linfox) will join Chris at the Convention dinner and take us on the 30 year journey that has delivered the CTA we are today.
As always, we have gathered the best tax minds in the country to deliver outstanding technical and practical presentations. The CTA Convention program has maintained its unique feature of only accepting registrations from corporates. This feature sets our Convention apart from all other tax events, making it the premiere event for large corporates in Australia.
Finally, we wish to thank our sponsors – Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills, Deloitte, MinterEllison, Johnson Winter & Slattery, KPMG and PwC. As co-owners of the corporate tax system, we appreciate your support and participation in this event.
We look forward to seeing you in Melbourne in June.
