Louise is Assistant Commissioner in the OECD Programs, Treaties and Advice branch of the International Support and Programs business line since July 2023. Her branch is responsible for the ATO implementation of OECD related programs or work, including Pillar Two. She also has oversight of the Treaties Consultation Unit which supports the Government’s tax treaty program and provides specialist treaty related advice. Before this, she was Assistant Commissioner in the Tax Counsel Network (TCN) where she was involved in the Pillar One reforms as well as providing technical leadership on some of the ATO’s highest priority litigation matters, including cases involving the application of Australia’s anti-avoidance rules.
As a Partner in MinterEllison’s Tax Controversy team, Farzeen assists large businesses and high-wealth individuals through all stages of taxation disputes, from Australian Taxation Office (ATO) risk reviews and audits through to litigation. She has a strong working relationship with the ATO which ensures she can help clients effectively manage their relationship with the ATO and resolve disputes at the earliest opportunity.
George Bishop is a Senior Associate within the Allens Tax team. George is an emerging talent, specialising in income tax, and has notable experience in banking and finance transactions, M&A, international tax issues, general advisory work, infrastructure assets and audits.
Jo Black is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Australia who specialises in Australian income tax and works with clients to find the best solution to complex Australian tax issues, including large-scale and listed company mergers and acquisitions; capital markets transactions, including listed and unlisted company debt and equity raisings; capital management transactions; and unlisted and listed company restructurings. She has worked with clients in various industries and focuses on the financial services industry and financial transactions.
Prior to joining A&M, Jo served in the Corporate and Global Tax team with PwC. Previously, she worked with boutique tax specialist firm, Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills (affiliated with global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills), prior to its acquisition by PwC.
Jo earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law from the University of Melbourne. She completed her legal training at Herbert Smith Freehills and is admitted to practice as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia. Additionally, she has presented and written papers on specialist income tax issues for the Tax Institute of Australia and the Corporate Tax Association and has been involved in submissions on Australian tax reform to the Australian Treasury and Australian Taxation Office.
Cameron is a partner and the Head of Tax at Corrs, and a leading transactional tax expert, specialising in mergers, acquisitions, and restructures. Having advised several of Australia’s largest taxpayers, Cameron’s expertise includes cross-border issues and all aspects of employee share schemes.
He has significant experience acting for public and private companies on capital management, including capital raising, return of capital, special dividends and buy-backs and debt raisings.
He regularly presents at The Tax Institute and the Corporate Tax Association on M&A, management incentive plans and international tax issues and demergers.
Cameron has been recognised as a leading lawyer by legal directories and publications including Chambers, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and Best Lawyers for Tax in Australia.
Prashant is a Director in the International Tax Structuring branch within the Public Groups business line at the Australian Taxation Office. In this role, Prashant is responsible for technical leadership for cross border tax and transfer pricing matters for public and multinational businesses. He is also responsible for management of the Advance Pricing Arrangement program at the ATO. Prashant has over 20 years of multi-faceted and multi-jurisdictional experience spanning public and private organisations.
David joined KPMG Australia as a Partner in August 2024 in the firm’s Consulting Division, where he works with highly motivated and talented teams to help businesses succeed in an increasingly complex and challenging global environment.
Joining KPMG after a decade in Paris as a senior executive at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), David has more than 20 years of experience in economic regulation, the law, government, and executive leadership.
At the OECD David was the Deputy Director of the Centre for Tax Policy and Administration where played a central role in the OECD’s tax work for over a decade. During this time, the OECD delivered the OECD/G20 Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Project, established the Inclusive Framework on BEPS, and secured the landmark 2021 agreement among more than 140 countries and jurisdictions on the two-pillar solution to address the tax challenges arising from digitalisation.
At the OECD, David also played a key role in the establishment of the Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches (IFCMA).
Prior to joining the OECD, David had been a corporate tax lawyer, a Member of the House of Representatives in the Australian Parliament and a Minister in the Australian Government. As a Minister, David held a range of portfolios in areas such as taxation policy, competition policy and consumer affairs, foreign investment policy and corporate governance. As a Minister, he had responsibility for overseeing some of Australia’s key economic regulators.
Andy is a Special Counsel in Clayton Utz’s tax team, who specialises in assisting multinationals and large Australian corporates to manage their disputes. He has particular expertise in disputes concerning international tax, transfer pricing and anti-avoidance matters.
Jinny is a Partner in the State taxes practice with over 20 years’ experience advising on stamp duty issues Australia-wide. Her work involves structuring and implementing transactions, as well as helping clients with risk management, compliance and audit issues. Jinny is recommended in Doyles Guide, Best Lawyers and Indirect Tax Leaders Guide (World Tax). Her clients include those in finance, funds management, healthcare, real estate, infrastructure, energy, renewables and mining industries.
Jinny graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Laws, and a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours and University Medal). She has practised with Herbert Smith Freehills since 2001. Jinny is a regular presenter at conferences, as well as client training and in-house seminars. She has also been a member of the Tax Institute of Australia’s NSW Office of State Revenue Liaison Committee, which provides feedback to the NSW government on draft legislation, revenue rulings and policy matters.
Clint is currently the Global Head of Tax at Orora Group, a multinational manufacturer of glass bottles and cans with operations in Australia, NZ, the US and broader European region. He has previously held positions as the Global Head of Tax at REA Group and Head of International Tax at MMG, where he spent extended periods of his role based in South America.
He currently serves as President as the CTA and also sits as a committee member for the Research & Development Incentive Committee for the federal government’s Department of Industry, Innovation, Science Australia. He has also previously held positions as the chair of the Growth & Tax Committee of the Tech Council of Australia, was a member of the Mining Council of Australia (MCA) Tax Committee, served on several Treasury consultation working groups on various tax reforms and has contributed to tax policy discussions in international jurisdictions in the Asia, South America and Africa regions.
Graeme Cooper, is an Emeritus Professor at Sydney University Law School and consultant to Herbert Smith Freehills. He has worked as a consultant to the ATO, Treasury, Board of Taxation, United Nations, OECD, World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and several foreign governments. He has taught in law schools in Australia, Europe, Canada and the United States, and holds degrees from the University of Sydney, University of Illinois and Columbia University, New York.

Stephen Dodshon is the International Risk Manager in Public Groups at the Australian Taxation Office. Currently, Stephen is leading the development of public advice and guidance for the new thin capitalisation and debt deduction creation rules as well as the implementation of the new rules across Public Groups client programs. Stephen’s former responsibilities in the ATO include leading teams detecting, assessing and managing international profit shifting and other tax structuring risks, providing technical advice on complex tax matters, and managing policy and law development projects.
Tim is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Sydney. He specializes in post-deal integration, helping finance and tax functions ensure that value is created and preserved in a transaction context.
Tim brings a unique perspective to transaction implementation matters, ensuring that exit, auditor and tax authority readiness are front of mind. He has a deep understanding of the key integration interdependencies for finance functions across tax, valuations, reporting and technology. His notable projects include the $4 billion acquisition of a renewable energy platform by a family office, the $10 billion acquisition of a gaming and real estate conglomerate by private equity, the $5 billion acquisition of an infrastructure portfolio by a private consortium, and the $10 billion takeover of a multinational F&B business.
Tim has extensive experience providing tax advisory and compliance services to large corporates and private equity portfolio companies. He navigates companies from transaction through to post-acquisition reporting and compliance and has worked on deals from $10 million to $10 billion. He has acted as both advisor and interim head of tax on these transactions. Mr. Edwards has extensive experience in tax consolidation, financing and IP-related tax matters, governance, tax compliance and tax accounting and deep experience in the consumer, technology and renewable energy sectors.
Prior to joining A&M, Tim worked with EY for more than fourteen years, in both Sydney and London, serving most recently as a Director in Sydney.
Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in business (accounting and finance major) from the University of Technology Sydney, where he won the prize for top graduating student in the finance major. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand.
Richard Evans is a Division Director in Macquarie Group’s group tax team with a broad experience of income tax matters impacting corporate taxpayers. Richard has over 24 years’ experience in providing taxation advice, advising in both external and in house roles in the UK and Australia. In his time at Macquarie, Richard has supported the Macquarie operating groups across a broad range of financial services industries including investment banking, retail banking and wealth management as well as asset management. Richard has also provided internal advice and support on significant group restructures, funding and M&A activities of the group and / or businesses. Richard has been a member of Australian Treasury’s Digital Tax Working Group which has been focused on the OECD Inclusive Framework’s two pillar solution and is Macquarie’s lead tax technical SME working on Macquarie’s Pillar 2 implementation project.
Martin is a partner in the Tax Group at Allens. Martin has advised domestic and international corporations on a broad range of taxation issues arising from domestic and cross-border financing arrangements; public company mergers and takeovers; debt, equity and hybrid securities; and corporate restructuring.
Bastian is a partner in the MinterEllison Tax practice and is a specialist GST advisor with over 20 years in dedicated practice within Big Four accounting firms and law firms. His expert advisory spans transaction structuring, GST compliance reviews, input tax credit recovery, GST audits, investigations and objections, and cross-border transactions.
Bastian’s clients include Australian and foreign corporates, government departments, statutory authorities, charitable entities and superannuation and infrastructure funds.
Jeremy is a senior member of MinterEllison's Tax Controversy team and has over 20 years' tax experience, managing large and complex tax controversy matters at the risk review and audit stages, as well as in the conduct of tax litigation. His experience includes senior roles at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) where he was the Deputy Commissioner for Review and Dispute Resolution and as a tax controversy partner at a Big 4 accounting firm.
Jeremy brings his experience from the ATO, leading objections and tax controversy, together with many years of experience working directly with local and cross-border clients. Jeremy provides unique insights into the management and resolution of contentious issues with the ATO and advises clients on how to navigate complex engagements with the ATO.
Jeremy has been responsible for the conduct of tax and tax related litigation in a number of significant tax disputes in the Federal and High Court. He was formerly a practising barrister, appearing across all courts for both taxpayers and the Commissioner. Bringing this experience together, he now works with clients to resolve their disputes as early as possible, whilst at the same time ensuring their case is well prepared for litigation, should it result.
Rhys Guild has been GST partner with MinterEllison since 2001. He regularly acts for the private sector and government agencies, with a focus on the property, finance and infrastructure sectors.
He recently represented Landcom in the Federal and Full Federal Court in its successful margin scheme litigation.
He is a member of the ATO's GST Stewardship Group, the PCA's indirect tax committee and the Law Council's tax committee. He is also a member of the MinterEllison Board.
He enjoys wine and spending time with his children, neither of whom have expressed any interest in being a GST lawyer.
Stephen has been a financial markets economist, based in Sydney, for over 35 years. He is the Chief Economist and Head of Global Economic & Markets Research at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) - the largest financial services company in Australia. Stephen was appointed to the Chief Economist role in April 2020 - having been the Head of the Global Economic & Markets Research team since January 2018.
As Chief Economist and Head of Global Economic & Markets Research, he is responsible for the team of economists and strategists that cover Australian Economics, International Economics, Rates, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Credit and Commodities research.
As Chairman of the Australian Business Economists (ABE) for 9 years he had the opportunity to meet with many key policy makers around the world and also experience in managing a Executive Committee and getting things done.
Nathan Hamilton is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Sydney and Brisbane. He specializes in indirect tax (GST) and employment taxes.
Nathan brings more than 17 years of experience assisting public corporations, private businesses and government entities to manage all aspects of their GST and employment tax obligations. He has advised clients across all industries, with a particular focus on property and infrastructure, energy and resources, and government.
Nathan’s recent engagements include a wage and superannuation remediation project for a large multinational organization, supporting a client and manage material tax exposure in respect of contractors ahead of M&A activity, and deploying technology to automate a client’s GST and payroll tax compliance processes.
Prior to joining A&M, Nathan was a Tax Partner with KPMG.
Nathan earned Bachelor’s degrees in law and commerce from Griffith University. He is a Chartered Tax Advisor and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
On 1 March 2024 Mr Rob Heferen took up his role as Commissioner of Taxation to lead the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Rob has dedicated his career to the Australian Public Service for the last 35 years, beginning in 1989 as a graduate at the Australian Customs Service. Over 35 years, he has accumulated diverse experience across policy development and program delivery in a range of portfolios, as well as representing Australia in international forums including the UN, the IEA and the OECD. For almost 20 years Rob’s interest and expertise in economics and tax policy led him to various roles in the Australian Taxation Office and Commonwealth Treasury, including leading the Secretariat for the Australia’s Future Tax System Review (the Henry Tax Review) and culminating in his role as Deputy Secretary, Revenue Group at the Commonwealth Treasury between 2011-2016, with responsibility for tax policy, tax legislation and revenue forecasting.
Rob’s other Senior Executive roles include Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare; Deputy Secretary of Higher Education, Research and International in the Department of Education, Skills and Employment; Deputy Secretary of Energy at the Department of the Environment and Energy (where he served as Australia’s representative on the International Energy Agency’s Governing Board); and Deputy Secretary of Indigenous Affairs at the Department Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

Luke is a partner at Corrs. He is an experienced tax lawyer specialising in the provision of income tax controversy advice and dispute resolution services.
He advises large domestic and multinational taxpayers throughout the entire tax dispute lifecycle – from pre and post ATO engagement during large M&A transactions, through to assisting taxpayers prepare for, and resolve, complex ATO reviews, audits and disputes. Mark is a Senior Tax Consultant at MinterEllison. He has over 40 years of experience working at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Hugh leads the HSF Disputes Group in Sydney and the Herbert Smith Freehills’ Tax Disputes team in Australia which has won multiple awards as the leading Tax Litigation and Disputes practice in Australia. Hugh has practised in the area since 2002. His key focus areas are international tax, transfer pricing and anti-avoidance.
Jay Prasad is HSF’s new income tax partner in our Sydney office. Jay is a transaction tax specialist experienced in advising corporates, financial institutions, private equity, and other managed funds on a wide range of tax-related matters. His expertise spans corporate mergers and acquisitions, restructures, IPOs, capital management programs and financing transactions.
Elissa Romanin is a corporate tax partner at MinterEllison. She specialises in providing tax structuring, tax due diligence, contract drafting and general income tax advice. Many of the matters she works on involve corporate income tax issues related to mergers and acquisitions, divestments and capital reorganisations. In addition to large corporates, Elissa's clients include high net wealth individuals and privately owned groups in Australia and abroad. Craig is a partner and the national leader of MinterEllison's Transfer Pricing practice and has over 20 years of dedicated transfer pricing and international tax expertise, with significant experience in transfer pricing audits, APAs, MAP and dispute resolution.
Kimberley is the Vice President Global Tax & Treasury for Cochlear Limited where she has global responsibility for all tax & treasury matters for the Group including advisory, transfer pricing, R&D tax incentive and tax and financial risk management. Kimberley has successfully concluded the renewal of multiple Advanced Pricing Arrangements in various locations for the Group during her time at Cochlear. Prior to joining Cochlear, Kimberley worked at KPMG advising clients on cross border and corporate tax transactions. She has been a representative member of the ATO’s Large Business Stewardship Group and is a current member of the RDTI Roundtable. Kimberley has degrees in business and law and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW.
Andrew is a partner in Clayton Utz’s Tax Practice. Andrew advises on all aspects of the GST for any major projects or transactions. He advises clients on financial structuring (including securitisation), property dealings and commercial transactions. Andrew has particular experience in conducting and managing disputes with revenue authorities.
Although Andrew's practice is primarily focused on GST, he is a notable expert on various tax issues including income tax, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax and R&D tax incentives. Before joining Clayton Utz, Andrew worked at a major accounting firm.
Amanda Spinks is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Sydney. She specializes in Australian employment taxes. Her primary areas of concentration are Pay As You Go (PAYG) withholding, superannuation, fringe benefits tax (FBT), and payroll tax, including payments to employees, contractors and directors.
With nearly twenty years of tax experience, Amanda has extensive experience advising all types of clients across all aspects of Australian employment taxes. Bringing a considered and practical approach to her engagements, she minimises liabilities while ensuring compliance obligations are met.
Prior to joining A&M, Amanda spent nearly three years with Microsoft, where she was responsible for the overall management and leadership of Australian statutory and tax compliance. In addition to meeting internal and external regulatory obligations across employment taxes, income tax, SOX & IFRS, Amanda regularly presented to the Executive Committee on issues including global pricing adjustments and foreign currency implications.
Previously, Amanda spent 15 years at EY. As a Director in the Employment Taxes practice, she worked with a range of international, domestic, commercial, government and not-for-profit clients on their people strategies, focusing on taxation.
Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce and a master’s degree in professional accounting from the University of New South Wales. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia & New Zealand, a Fellow of the Tax Institute, and a former member of the Australian Taxation Office’s FBT Working Group and Not-for-profit Stewardship Group. Amanda regularly speaks at technical forums and has been instrumental in key legislative reforms in consultation with the Australian Taxation Office.
Amelia Teng is an international tax partner with over 15 years experience and specialises in advising on tax structuring issues relating to Australian inbound and outbound investments. Amelia has a focus on the practical challenges arising for multinational companies from the OECDs BEPS initiatives particularly in relation to the Australian hybrid mismatch rules.

Ronen is a partner in PwC’s Sydney tax practice and the leader of PwC Australia’s Tax Accounting Services practice. Ronen has been a Tax Accounting specialist for over 10 years and has been the lead tax partner of many statutory audits.
